Ethics in Education
In this article Jeremy Moss takes a look at censorship. There are several conflicts on censoring and what is right and what is wrong. He discusses the difference in censorship in television and how some shows may say that it is only for specific viewing of a certain age, but then we go to the censorship of the internet and there are none. If we are going to put a specific viewing age on the television then why not on some of the internet sites that are out there. Moss also goes into discussion of the public and privite of the usage of the internet. If an individual is told not to view certain sites while at work or school, but then may go home and view these under their own roof, then what is the censorship there? Moss develops a couple of different case studies and questions some censorship issues. For example there was the case study on the students that was doing the report on the history of war and was researching the different weapons and how some things were made and how bombs were made. The student was able to find this type of information on the internet, but is this something that should be censored. Should the site that is providing this information had to censor or limit their information. What if someone not like the student that was using it for research purposes were to come across this site. The article discusses several different cases and types of censorship and it is good reading for debate.

Jessica - great summary of the article. What is your opinion? Where would you draw the fine line of protecting people using censorship versus freedom of information and personal choice?
